The NASIO Trust is a UK-based Christian Charity supporting HIV/Aids orphaned and destitute children in Kenya. This project has also given birth to Operation Exit 7 working with youths in the UK, as a means of helping young people to acquire new life skills and learning at first hand what it really means to be hard up, putting their own lives in perspective. Dear all, Firstly can I thank all of you on behalf of the Nasio Trust and our G-Force team. Your donations either monetary or gifts / tools no matter how big or small made the trip so much easier to achieve our aims.   Where do I start – what an incredible trip.Well firstly the area we were in was nothing like I’ve experienced before. Every rule you work to in this country goes out of the window. For instance if you want some wood, you can ask the local builders to cut a tree down and slice it into planks!!! Seriously. Once we had travelled to Kisumu, Nancy Hunt the charities administrator took us to a restaurant next to Lake Victoria. Our main course was a choice of Fish or chicken. The fish was freshly caught from the lake. The chicken, well I’ll leave that to your imagination. But when it arrived it was KFC (Kenya Fried Chicken) sadly complete with head and feet. A quick lesson in Kenyan food.   We then went to the Compound where we were staying. The driver took us so we could have out photos taken next to the equator sign then got lost! All the dust filled roads looked the same and no road signs didn’t help. At the compound we had time to assess the work. A mammoth week lay ahead of us. We had to supply Huts one and two with water, waste removal and power. This meant digging and laying over 60m of pipe underground, removing 2 existing steel doors and refitting on the compound, installing new security grills in open windows, fitting new lighting, power, toilets, showers, sinks etc. and building new walls.
